At The Kitchen [community] we are all one family. We brainstorm over community dinners at The Kitchen restaurants; collaborate with each other on build days in Denver, Chicago, and Los Angeles; and occasionally pull all nighters with a mug of coffee from The Kitchen [Next Door]. We value the relationships we share with each other, the communities in which we work, and our donors. We have passion and believe that what and how we eat matters. If it is good for the community, it is good for us.

Founders

Kimbal Musk

Kimbal Musk is an entrepreneur and restaurateur who has founded and advised several companies and non-profits including: The Kitchen, The Kitchen Community, Zip2 (acquired by Compaq), PayPal (acquired by Ebay), Everdream (acquired by Dell), Tesla Motors (Publicly listed: TSLA), SpaceX, OneRiot (acquired by Walmart) and SolarCity.

Hugo Matheson

Hugo is the Chef/Co-Founder of The Kitchen. Born in England, Hugo grew up eating whatever food his mother picked up that day. Sometimes it was just “a bit of kale from our garden,” other times it was “a slowly simmered leg of lamb from the nearby butcher.” Either way, it was always fresh and represented the best of the area.

Managing Director

Travis Robinson

Travis Robinson has nearly 20 years of experience in early stage Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) and cleantech company formation and business development, financing, and operations. His work with leading-edge companies and technologies, as well as relationships built through co-founding the yoga journal now known as The Elephant Journal, has bolstered his already deep passion for children’s health and nutrition.

Designer

Jen Lewin

Jen Lewin is an artist in Boulder, Colorado. She is also the Design Director/Co-Founder of The Kitchen and the designer of the Learning Garden system. While Jen’s internationally acclaimed art and design work has encompassed a broad range of materiality (from large interactive LED sculpture, to cozy restaurant nooks, to public garden sculpture), all of her work has at its heart the desire for connection and community.
